Translate Bar is a free Chrome extension that brings Google Translate directly into your browser — without ever leaving the page you're reading.

When you highlight any text, a small "Translate" button appears next to your selection. Click it and the translation slides in from the right side of the page in a clean sidebar, showing the original and translated text side by side. You stay on the same page, the same scroll position, with the translation right next to the content.

What you can do with it:

- Translate selected text in a sidebar — no tab switching, no copy-pasting
- Right-click any selection to translate it with one click
- Translate the entire page via keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+Y)
- Choose how Google Translate opens: sidebar, popup, new tab, or new window
- Set your default target language from 100+ options
- Show or hide the floating translate button to keep things minimal

It works on news sites, research papers, social media, online stores, forums — basically any page with text. Everything is handled through Google Translate, so translation quality is the same as what you get on translate.google.com.
